POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for the cleanliness, repair and maintenance of the facility and grounds.  Manages third shift custodians and ensures that the facility and grounds are clean and well maintained prior to opening.

GENERAL WORK SCHEDULE:

40 hours per week.  Third shift – overnight.  Must be available to work between the hours of 8:00 pm and 4:30 am.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1.            Maintains the cleanliness of the facility and grounds.  Performs housekeeping and custodial tasks. Ensures the cleanliness of locker rooms, restrooms, hallways, etc.

2.            Coordinates and completes repair work and maintenance projects. Completes projects on time and communicates progress/completion effectively.

3.            Ensures compliance with all local, state and federal regulations related to buildings and grounds.

4.            Maintains the exterior of the building and grounds, including snow removal when necessary.

5.            Maintains the swimming pool, ensures cleanliness, appropriate chemical quality, and temperature.

6.            Monitors, implements, and enforces protocol to clean and disinfect commonly used surfaces, and ensures PPE compliance.

7.            Submits orders and maintains the appropriate inventory of janitorial and maintenance supplies necessary for third shift. Maintains department equipment.

8.            Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs employees and volunteers.  Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.  

9.            Performs property inspections, reacts to problems, and ensures a safe and accident-free environment.

10.         Identifies problems in the building and on the grounds. Takes initiative to find appropriate solutions and notifies the building director and communicates with management.

11.         Serves as a member of YMCA management and supports the overall objectives of the organization.

12.         Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1.            Minimum of three (3) years of experience in the maintenance and custodial field.

2.            Working knowledge of mechanical, plumbing systems, and other maintenance related areas.

3.            Certified Pool Operator certification within 9 months of employment.

4.            Respirator/Fit Test certification within 9 months of employment.

5.            CPR/AED certification from ASHI, American Red Cross or American Heart Association.

6.            Good judgment, with the ability to identify problems and find acceptable solutions.

7.            Ability to respond to emergency situations.

8.            Excellent human relations skills.
